Half a lifetime traveling

Stories from the road.

Journalist, filmmaker, and keynote speaker Samuel Häde (32) takes his audience on an extraordinary journey around the globe — from his first steps as a backpacker in India after finishing high school to producing large-scale documentary productions for ARD and ZDF.
Alone with a donkey, he crosses the remote northeast of Afghanistan and lives with nomads in the Pamir Mountains.
Samuel cycles through the Himalayas, spends lonely nights in coin laundries in Japan, hitchhikes across the USA, loses sight of his caravan during a desert trek in the Sahara, and narrowly escapes a stoning in Jamaica.
In India, he meets the love of his life and, with the help of locals, builds a bamboo raft to navigate the mighty Brahmaputra — the third-largest river on the subcontinent. He investigates femicides in Mexico, traces the influence of the Islamic State in the conflict regions of the Philippines, emigrates to Georgia, and reports from the front lines in Ukraine on Russia’s growing influence in Europe.
With stunning footage, personal insights and lessons from over a decade on the road, Samuel shows how travel has not only changed his view of the world but also of life itself. A captivating blend of adventure, reporting, and self-discovery — told authentically, honestly, and compellingly.
